Gestern war ich auf einem Seminar zum Thema Genetik.
Züchter zu sein bedeutet nicht nur gesunde, schöne und wesensfeste Hunde zu verpaaren, sondern es muss in Generationen gedacht und geplant werden, da die Genetik für die Nachzucht natürlich eine entscheidende Rolle spielt.
Wer gesunde Hunde züchten möchte, die dem angestrebten Zuchtziel immer näher kommen, muss sich auch in Genetik auskennen. Was bedeutet homozygot, und was heterozygot? Was sind dominante, was rezessive Gene, und wie werden sie züchterisch bearbeitet? Welche Rolle spielt die additive Genwirkung mit Schwellenwert-Charakter? Wie wirken Umweltfaktoren, und wie können diese optimiert werden?
Auf diesem Seminar wurde neben einer Wiederholung wichtiger genetischer Fachbegriffe eine Einführung in populationsgenetisches Grundwissen und aktuelle wissenschaftliche Entwicklungen in der Epigenetik und bei den relevanten Zuchtmethoden geboten.
Es war ein wirklich spannendes und informatives Seminar, das mich in meiner Ansicht zur Hundezucht noch mehr bestärkt hat.
