An einem Wochenende im August ...
machte sich mein Seelenhund Extra, mein Schatten und meine treue Begleiterin plötzlich auf den Weg ins Regenbogenland. 
Sie wollte in ihrem Leben keinen Moment ohne mich sein. Schummelte sich immer an meine Seite, auch wenn sie mal nicht mitkommen sollte. Auf den Spaziergängen lief sie ohne Leine so nah neben mir, dass ich sie fast nicht sehen konnte. Immer war sie da und passte auf. Sie war so sanft und zart zu allen Besuchern, hielt sich immer im Hintergrund wenn es Gedrängel gab. Jeder, der sie kannte, musste sie einfach gern haben. Ihr Fell war weich wie bei einem Kaninchen. Es war eine Wohltat, sie zu streicheln oder beim Frühstück neben mir auf der Bank liegen zu sehen. Sie liebte es für die Welpen die "Nanny" zu spielen, war immer sanft, geduldig und vorsichtig mit den Welpen.
All das wird jetzt nur noch eine Erinnerung in meinem Herzen sein und es werden keine neuen Erlebnisse mehr dazu kommen. Meine Extra musste sich nun zum ersten mal ohne mich auf einen Weg machen. Es hat mir das Herz zerrissen, sie gehen zu lassen, besonders weil sie mich doch nie auch nur für 
einen kurzen Moment verlassen wollte.
Du fehlst mir so unsagbar und es ist kaum auszuhalten, jetzt ohne dich zu sein. Nur mit Hilfe guter Freunde, die mir sofort zur Seite standen und immer für mich da sind, war es mir überhaupt möglich, diese schwere Zeit durchzustehen. Jeden Tag kommen Tränen beim Gedanken an meine Extra. Wir hatten noch so viel vor, doch nun bist du nur noch in meinem Herzen und nicht mehr an meiner Seite. Ich hoffe, es geht dir gut auf der Regenbogenwiese. Oma Zandy und Dein großer Bruder Benji warten schon auf Dich und irgendwann werden wir uns dort bestimmt wieder sehen. Das gibt einen Tanz!
